Hats Off to Rachel Medina

December 4, 2009

When traditional public schools didn’t work, Rachel Medina turned to The Colorado Distance & Electronic Learning Academy (CDELA) to earn her high school diploma. As a single mom who works full time, Rachel needed a school that would work around her schedule and allow her to work and support her family. That’s when she found CDELA.

“The teachers and staff were really helpful and supportive during my time at CDELA,” said Rachel. “I really enjoyed the fact that I was able to work from home and still support my family.”

It was with the encouragement from her co-workers and that drive within that Rachel went back to school after dropping out 6 months prior and received her diploma. She now works full-time and is pleased she completed her high school education.

Each year, the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools (OAPCS) hosts an Art, Poetry and Essay contest. This year, two students from the Ohio Distance & Electronic Learning Academy (OHDELA) were recognized for their efforts in this contest. Zechariah Ciccone earned second place for the OAPCS 2008 Essay contest while Jarad Miller placed third in the essay contest.

The winners were chosen by a group of individuals to judge all areas of the contest. OAPCS picks the three top scores in each area and each grade group.

Please join us in congratulating these students for their hard work!
